Aging Care Connections Celebrates Heart Month
In recognition of American Heart Month – and Valentine’s Day – this February, Aging Care Connections (ACC), a leader in providing client-centered care for older adults, is ramping up its efforts to promote heart health. With a focus on both physical and emotional well-being, ACC is excited to offer a variety of programs and services tailored to the needs of the aging population. Heart health is paramount for older adults, and ACC is committed to addressing it from multiple angles. The organization’s calendar for February features:
- Fitness Workshops: Including Chair Yoga, Qi Gong, and Chair Aerobics, designed to improve physical health, flexibility, and circulation, which are critical for heart health. These classes are accessible via the ACC website’s calendar at [agingcareconnections.org].
- Addressing Loneliness and Isolation: Understanding the link between emotional health and heart health, ACC organizes activities like the Congregate Meals Program, providing not just nutritious meals but also opportunities for social interaction. Congregate Meals has a special lunch planned for Valentine’s Day. Call 708-603-2269 to register and join us!
- Field Trips: These outings encourage physical activity and community engagement, both of which contribute to a healthier heart.
- Happy Hour Program: A new initiative where participants gather monthly to share positive experiences and good news, fostering a sense of community and happiness without alcohol.
Desiree M. Scully, MA, Executive Director of Aging Care Connections, emphasized the holistic approach to heart health, stating, “At Aging Care Connections, we understand that heart health encompasses more than just physical fitness. It’s about nurturing the heart through social connections, reducing isolation, and celebrating life’s joys together. Our programs are designed to touch on all these aspects, ensuring our community not only lives longer but lives better.”
These initiatives are part of ACC’s broader mission to enrich the quality of life for older adults by providing comprehensive services that support their health and well-being. By focusing on heart health this month, ACC aims to educate, engage, and empower older adults to lead heart-healthy lives.
