Confused about Medicare? Here is the important information about your Medicare options for 2025.
The Parts of Medicare
- Part A covers you for hospitalization
Yes, there is a deductible for this, which your secondary insurance provider usually covers.
- Part B covers you for medical expenses
- Covers you for doctor appointments and any durable medical goods such as a walker, crutches or splints.
- Part C- Medicare Advantage Plans
- These plans include all the parts needed for Medicare, such as Part A, Part B, and Part D, in one plan with a very low monthly premium.
- Part D-Prescription drug coverage
Covers you for your medications: great news for 2025; Medicare removed the $9000 coverage gap otherwise known as the “donut hole”. Yeah!
This year, your maximum out-of-pocket for your medications is capped at $2,000!
Do you need all parts?
Yes, Part A and Part B are known as original Medicare; this covers you for 80% of your medical costs. Most people purchase a Medicare supplement plan or a Medicare Advantage plan to cover the other 20%.
Part D covers your prescription drug costs and is a separate policy if you do not want a Medicare Advantage plan.
What if I have insurance from my employer?
No, you will apply for Part A only. When you leave your employer, you will apply for Part B.
